Andreas Vollenweider (Andreas Vollenweider) was born in Zurich, 4th October 1953. His father - Hans Vollenweider, one of the most famous organists of Europe. Thanks dating his family, Andreas was surrounded by artists, sculptors, musicians, dancers and writers. Perhaps because of this, he started collecting musical instruments and began professionally playing guitar, piano, flute and harp. At the time, Andreas tried to take lessons on the harp, but the results were weak and he had to come up with their own style of play.

In 1979 he recorded his first solo album titled Eine Art Suite en 13 Teilen, (another suite in 13 parts). The album was released only in Switzerland and find it in other countries is virtually impossible, although some (even most) works with him were later included in the album Trilogy. Prior to this album Andreas played in ensemble Poetry & Music, which has recorded 3 albums.

In 1981 disk Behind the Garden ... overlooks the CBS studio and immediately gets rave reviews from critics and awards magazines. After him comes Caverna Magica and also found delight listeners. From this moment begins the worldwide recognition of Andreas. Tickets to his concerts are sold out in advance and in America and in Europe. 1984 - leaves the soundtrack to the film devoted to Greenpeace. Behind him at intervals Released White Winds and Down to the Moon, and then, after a two-year hiatus - Dancing with the Lion. Two years later, the disc goes Book of Roses.

1987 - Down to the Moon wins award Grammy. In recorded in 1993 for the first time present Eolian Minstrel singer, Eliza Gylkison. Lyrics on the disk belong to Andreas and Elisa. Album - Kryptos - came out in 1997, it was arranged by a symphony orchestra.
But this is only the beginning of a new momentum in his mature work.
